Playing in just his second collegiate game, in his hometown, and somewhat in the shadow of Kansas super-prospect Andrew Wiggins, Duke’s Jabari Parker left no doubt over whether he is ready for the national stage.
Parker, a Chicago native, poured in a game-high 27 points — five more than Wiggins — to go along with nine rebounds and two steals in a 94-83 loss to the Jayhawks at the United Center.
The 18-year-old’s “welcome to the big time” moment came less than a minute into the second half, when he caught an alley-oop from Quinn Cook and threw down a highlight-reel dunk that conjured up images of another Duke phenom from a previous generation.
