Darnell Dockett, he of pet tigers and AJ McCarron taunting, is no stranger to the odd and entertaining, but his decision-making took a dirty turn Sunday, and this one is probably going to draw a fine.
The Arizona defensive end appeared to intentionally step on the hand of Rams offensive lineman Chris Williams after a running play in Sunday’s 30-10 Cardinals win. Dockett had come in late for a tackle on running back Zac Stacy, and Williams knocked Dockett off Stacy after the play. But then, with Williams still on the ground, Dockett got up and made an aggressive lunge forward, with Williams’ hand the planting spot for his foot.
The stomp was reminiscent of Ndamukong Suh’s penalty-drawing foot placement on Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich Smith in 2011, meaning Dockett will likely have to pay a bit for his creative cleat landing.
