During the second overtime of Chicago’s 4-3 loss to St. Louis, Quenneville’s temper got the best of him when he yelled at officials for failing to call an apparent delay-of-game penalty that would have given the Blackhawks a 5-on-3 power play. But Quenneville’s actions escalated when he grabbed his groin with his right hand while gesturing that the puck went over the glass.
Quenneville issued an apology for the obscene gesture the next day.
“I was definitely excited and disappointed at the call,” Quenneville said Friday, per the Chicago Tribune. “I apologize for my behavior. It wasn’t very appropriate at all. It was a bush-league move on my part.”
