British Open GolfTiger Woods might not be done just yet.

Tiger fans across America and the world breathed a temporary sigh of relief Monday when his agent, Mark Steinberg, sent ESPN a text message saying it was too soon to rule him out of the PGA Championship — which begins Thursday — because of a back injury sustained last week.

“Way too early. He has to rest and get treatment and then assess later,” Steinberg wrote. “Pointless to make that decision now without proper time to give him best chance. Nothing further today, maybe (not) even tomorrow.”

Woods was injured on the ninth hole of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday and subsequently withdrew from the tournament after being in visible pain.

It was just Woods’ third tournament since he had back surgery in March.

The PGA Championship will take place at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., where Tiger won the major in 2000.
