If you haven’t heard of Todd Gurley by now … well, after Saturday, that seems pretty unlikely.
Gurley hopes to break out in his third year with 12th-ranked Georgia, and he got off to a great start with a performance for the ages in the Bulldogs’ season opener against No. 16 Clemson.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pound tailback can run between the tackles, but in the second quarter, he showed off some downright blazing speed.
Gurley’s 100-yard kickoff return sparked a huge surge for the Bulldogs, who scored 31 unanswered points en route to a 45-21 blowout win.
We haven’t even mentioned Gurley the running back, who rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries, including a 51-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter.
Yeah, it’s early, but Gurley’s stellar performance against one of the ACC’s top teams might have just launched him into the Heisman discussion.
