Fantasy Football: Andre Williams Among Week 6 Waiver Wire Options

Andre WilliamsFantasy football is all about opportunity.

If it sounds like we’ve said that before, it’s because we probably have. But it’s true. How else can you explain the performance of Branden Oliver, an undrafted rookie out of the University of Buffalo who took emerged from a decimated San Diego Chargers backfield to produce over 35 fantasy points on Sunday?

Breakout games like Oliver’s don’t occur too often, though, and it usually takes a few major injuries to produce such a situation. Unfortunately for some fantasy owners, several key fantasy players went down in Week 5. Fortunately for those owners, that lost production has to go somewhere, and if you play your cards right, you might emerge in Week 6 no worse for wear.

Let’s take a look at some players who could benefit from an increased workload in Week 6 and should be available to pick up on the waiver wire.

Quarterback: Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings
Bridgewater looked pretty darn good before he got hurt, and now that he’s healthy, the starting job is all his. The Detroit Lions aren’t the most favorable matchup, but the rookie posted big numbers in his only action at home, and he’ll be back in the friendly confines of TCF Bank Stadium this Sunday. Bridgewater is a valuable asset going forward, so snag him if you can.

Other quarterbacks to watch: Carson Palmer, Jake Locker, Ryan Tannehill, Eli Manning, Austin Davis

Running Back: Andre Williams, New York Giants
When it comes to opportunities, it doesn’t get much better than this. Williams posted double-digit fantasy performances in back-to-back weeks while splitting time with Rashad Jennings, and Jennings went down with an injury on Sunday. Williams’ carries should see a significant bump in the next few weeks, and his fantasy production should follow suit.

Other running backs to watch: Branden Oliver, Jonathan Stewart, Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson, Benny Cunningham

Wide Receiver: Rueben Randle, Giants
The targets have always been there for Randle, but it looks like the 23-year-old finally is starting to produce. Randle hauled in a touchdown pass from Eli Manning one week after posting a season-high eight receptions for 89 yards, and he’s gotten 10 targets in each of the last three games. The Eagles’ pass defense is atrocious, so if Randle’s still around, he’s worth an add this week.

Other wide receivers to watch: Eddie Royal, James Jones, Marvin Jones, Brandon LaFell, Louis Murphy

Tight End: Owen Daniels, Baltimore Ravens
Once again, opportunity is the key here. Dennis Pitta’s season-ending injury leaves the tight end duties solely to Daniels, and he responded in kind with five catches for 70 yards last Sunday. The Ravens take on the league’s second-worst passing defense in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, so if you need a tight end, Daniels is your guy.

Other tight ends to watch: Jordan Reed, Eric Ebron, Dwayne Allen, Jared Cook
