Report: Bills Interested In Mike Shanahan For Vacant Head Coaching Job

The Buffalo Bills suddenly find themselves in need of a head coach, and they have their sights set high.

The Bills have expressed interest in Mike Shanahan, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The club is hopeful they can set up an interview with the veteran coach as early as this weekend, says Schefter, and Shanahan reportedly has confirmed the team’s interest.

Shanahan has been out of coaching for about a year after he was fired by the Washington Redskins following the 2013 season. His time in Washington was a bit of a mess; the Redskins had just one winning season under Shanahan and went 24-40 during his four-year tenure.

The 62-year-old has a .571 all-time winning percentage in stints with Washington, the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Raiders. The Broncos won two Super Bowl titles (1997, 1998) with Shanahan at the helm.

He’s also reportedly getting interest from the San Francisco 49ers.

The Bills need to hire a new head coach after Doug Marrone opted out of his contract earlier in the week.
