NFL Confirms Investigation Into Football Deflation In Patriots-Colts Game

The big story following the AFC Championship Game centers around how much air was in the footballs.

News broke Sunday night that the NFL was investigating if the footballs used in the New England Patriots’ 45-7 rout of the Indianapolis Colts were properly inflated. The Patriots, according to the report, are suspected of possibly deflating the footballs.

That initial report was more than hot air, as an NFL spokesperson confirmed to Newsday’s Bob Glauber on Monday morning that the league indeed launching an investigation into the matter.

According to the Sunday night report from Bob Kravitz of Indianapolis’ WHTR.com, officials took a ball out of play during the game to weigh it. According to Kravitz, if the league confirms the footballs were deflated, the Patriots could end up losing a draft pick or picks.
