Stuart Scott, in many ways, was the face of ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”

Scott, a longtime ESPN anchor who died of cancer Sunday at age 49, was well-known for his passion, his hip catchphrases and his infectious personality. Bristol certainly lost a great one, and Scott’s colleagues paid tribute on Sunday night’s edition of the show he revolutionized.

Steve Levy and Scott Van Pelt, both of whom spent years working alongside Scott, expressed heartfelt sentiments during the final segment of Sunday night’s “SportsCenter.” The show then concluded with an empty chair — a fitting farewell to one of sports broadcasting’s bests.
