Bill Belichick might have smiled more in his appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman” than in all of 2014 combined.

The New England Patriots head coach was funny and laid back in his talk show appearance, and some of his best moments came when he was taunting Letterman, a huge Indianapolis Colts fan.

“You pretty much extinguished my Colts,” Letterman said. “How do you feel about that?”

“Well, it was only a 38-point win,” Belichick said, smiling about the Patriots’ 45-7 AFC Championship Game win.

When the subject turned to running back LeGarrette Blount, Belichick got another dig in.

“He had a good game against your Colts,” Belichick said. “I’m sure you remember that, David — 160 yards, three touchdowns.”

Letterman then tried to turn the conversation, when Belichick threw in another zinger.

“We got off that Colts subject in a hurry, didn’t we?”

That caused Letterman to bring up DeflateGate, which Belichick had no interest in discussing.

Letterman wrapped up his interview with his own dig on 37-year-old Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

“Are you concerned about — well, he’s my age,” the 67-year-old host joked. “Are you worried about that?”

Belichick could only flash a smile before Letterman handed the head coach the Lombardi Trophy he won in Super Bowl XLIX.
