Matt Chatham: NFL Wasted A Year By Delaying Study On Goal-Line Cameras

Roger Goodell is late again.

After a year of turmoil in which the NFL commissioner infamously only made the tough decisions once public outcry grew loud enough, Goodell is taking the same lackadaisical approach to an in-game issue: fixed goal-line and boundary cameras. This is an old issue that Goodell & Co. are somehow only now addressing, according to former NFL linebacker Matt Chatham.

“We all understand the leverage the NFL has and how it so often operates, so how last year’s proposal didn’t ignite informal feelers for opportunities to find sponsorship for these new cameras and allay some of the cost concerns makes absolutely no sense,” Chatham wrote on FootballbyFootball.com. “As simply as it can be put, they didn’t do the necessary work until forced to by somebody else.

“Embarrassing.

“But that’s what you get time and again from the Roger Goodell regime: late and flaccid leadership for a premium price. Yippie.”
