Northeastern Wins CAA Title, Heads To First NCAA Tournament Since 1991

The Huskies are headed to the Big Dance.

Northeastern beat No. 1 William & Mary 72-61 in the the Colonial Athletic Association tournament final Monday night in Baltimore to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. It’ll be their first trip to the tournament since 1991.

The No. 3-seeded Huskies handled the Tribe, leading by as many as 22 points in the second half. William & Mary did come within six in the final minute, but Northeastern still was able to run away with the win.

Northeastern swingman Quincy Ford led all scorers with 22 points.

This is the eighth tournament berth for the Huskies, who have only gotten as far as the second round in 1981 and 1982.
