Rajon Rondo Open To Re-Signing With Mavs, Good With Rick Carlisle

It looks as though everything that happened between Rajon Rondo and Rick Carlisle is in the past.

The Dallas Mavericks guard opened up to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears on Saturday and said that everything is A-OK with him and his head coach despite a heated argument between the two back in February led to a one-game suspension for Rondo.

“The situation happened and everyone was like, ‘Oh, he doesn’t want to be here now,'” Rondo told Spears. “I get into it with all my coaches. … I’m on (television) like I committed a crime. Two men had a disagreement. Obviously, we didn’t handle it the right way. Obviously, regardless of how it goes down it’s always going to be the player’s fault, and I took responsibility. But it’s a two-way street and we’re moving on from that.”

And despite the reports that Rondo doesn’t want to be in Dallas next season, the polarizing point guard said he’d be open to a return when he becomes a free agent this offseason.

“Why would I not be?” Rondo told Spears. “There are a lot of things that I really love. Even the practices, we listen to music, my type of music. It’s the little things. …

“It’s a player’s organization. Players first, from our plane, the way we travel. I don’t take that for granted. We eat good. We stay at the best hotels. Of course, it’s the NBA. But this organization has the best. … I love it here. I don’t dislike anything. I’m not uncomfortable.”

Still, the former Boston Celtic knows that just because he wants to come back doesn’t mean that the Mavs feel the same way.

“I haven’t had a change of heart about wanting to be here,” Rondo said. “But I said that in Boston, too, and look what happened.”
