Aaron Rodgers: Tom Brady Deflategate Ruling ‘A Good Day For The Players’

Tom Brady had the support of a fellow elite quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers is among those pleased with U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman’s decision Thursday to vacate Brady’s four-game suspension related to the New England Patriots quarterback’s alleged involvement in Deflategate. The Green Pack Packers QB seemingly views Brady’s victory over the NFL in court as a win for the NFL Players Association, specifically as it relates to player discipline.

“I think it’s a good day for the players,” Rodgers, who didn’t mention Brady by name, said on the Packers TV Network during Thursday’s preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN.com. “I think that anytime we can get one of our own back, that’s a good win for us.

“I think there is maybe a little bit of the, too much absolute power that frankly the players, we had a chance in 2011 to really make a difference in the CBA, and we didn’t. We left the commissioner in charge of a lot of those things, but our unions did a good job of appealing and helping our guys out.”

There’s been a lot of talk recently that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has too much power as it relates to player discipline under the current collective bargaining agreement. Patriots president Jonathan Kraft even said it might be time for the league to reconsider its disciplinary process.

While Rodgers didn’t comment specifically about Deflategate, opting instead to speak in general terms Thursday, it’s fairly obvious the Packers signal caller would be open to change.

For what it’s worth, Rodgers said he prefers his footballs to be inflated to the high end of the allowable scale and does not think game officials should take air out of them, per ESPN.com.
