Patriots Practice Report: Jamie Collins’ Illness Going On Two Weeks

FOXBORO, Mass. — Don’t expect to see Jamie Collins in the New England Patriots’ Monday night matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots starting linebacker missed the team’s final practice of the week Saturday with an illness. Cornerback Justin Coleman (hand) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (foot) also were absent.

Collins first was listed on the injury report with the illness Nov. 7. The last time he was spotted at Gillette Stadium was Nov. 8 before the Patriots’ Week 9 game against the Washington Redskins. It’s still unclear what illness Collins is dealing with. Linebackers Jonathan Freeny, Jerod Mayo and Jon Bostic should see an increase in snaps with Collins almost certainly out against the Bills.

Cornerback Rashaan Melvin moves up to third on the cornerback depth chart with Coleman likely out. The Patriots could move safeties Devin McCourty or Patrick Chung to cornerback in a pinch. They also have defensive backs Brock Vereen and Chris Greenwood on their practice squad.
