UPDATE (9:12 p.m. ET): Mookie Betts hit a third home run, another solo shot, in the seventh inning. Because why not?

It was Betts’ 12th homer of the season. He hit 18 last season.

His three home runs, five RBIs and three runs scored put him on pace for 37 home runs, 125 RBIs and 153 runs this season.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Boston Red Sox didn’t waste any time breaking open their game against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

Right fielder Mookie Betts hit his second leadoff home run of the season, which MLB’s Statcast projected as a 428-footer, and second baseman Dustin Pedroia followed it up with another solo shot to give the Red Sox an early 2-0 lead.

But Betts wasn’t done, as he blasted a three-run shot in the very next inning.

Pedroia’s homer was his seventh of the season, while Betts’ were his 10th and 11th. Plus, it wasn’t a bad way to welcome Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez to his first outing of the season.
