If Johnny Manziel ever gets another NFL job, he’ll have a four-game suspension waiting for him.
The NFL on Thursday suspended the former Cleveland Browns quarterback four games for a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, according to multiple reports.
The news should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who has paid even the slightest bit of attention to Manziel over the last year. He obviously won’t even be able to serve the suspension until he gets a new job (if he gets a new job) after the Browns released their former first-round draft pick in March amid multiple and ever-growing reports that his partying habits had spiraled out of control.
In the months since being cut by the Browns, Manziel has made news for all of the wrong reasons. If anything, he has intensified his partying, and his own father said earlier this week that his son’s a “druggie,” adding there’s not much the family can do to help the 23-year-old at this point. Manziel also was indicted on a misdemeanor assault charge in an alleged attack of his ex-girlfriend.
Coincidentally (or perhaps not), Manziel told TMZ Sports on Wednesday that he plans to go drug-free … starting July 1.
