Isaiah Crowell apologized Monday for a graphic and offensive drawing he posted to his Instagram account. But the Cleveland Browns still aren’t happy about the running back’s conduct.

Crowell posted last week and then quickly deleted a drawing that showed a man wearing a black jacket with black gloves and his face covered slashing the throat of a police officer. The accompanying caption read: “Mood: They give polices all types of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us….#Weak.”

An NFL source told Cleveland.com the post went up last week after white police officers fatally shot two black men but before five police officers were killed in Dallas during a protest of the two shootings.

Crowell issued the following apology Monday.

As one would imagine, Crowell’s post has caused quite a stir on social media, with many fans even pleading with the Browns to release the 23-year-old.

The Browns issued the following statement regarding the matter: “We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.”

Crowell led the Browns with 706 rushing yards last season. He’s entering his third season with the organization after compiling 1,313 rushing yards, 269 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns (12 rushing, one receiving) in his first two campaigns.
