BOSTON — Drew Pomeranz takes the mound for the Red Sox on Wednesday night in the series finale against the San Francisco Giants.

The 27-year-old left-hander brings his 2.47 ERA to Fenway Park for his team debut after being acquired by Boston in a trade with the San Diego Padres six days ago.

Red Sox manager John Farrell elaborated Tuesday on the advice he’s given Pomeranz on pitching at Fenway.

“Easier said than done, but just to pitch as he’s done,” Farrell explained. “That’s what’s attracted us to him. He has really evolved as a starter with a little bit different pitch mix. The addition of a cutter’s been helpful to him. But not to come in here and be someone he’s not.

“Just because he’s going to look over his shoulder and see a wall not far away — don’t try to pitch to the wall. Pitch to the hitter, read the hitter’s swings, and the more you can stay focused on that, he’ll be better off for it.”

Pomeranz is familiar with this Giants lineup, too — as a member of the Padres, he already faced them three times this season during divisional matchups in the National League West. He performed well in each.

Boston’s lineup is the same as it was for Tuesday’s 4-0 shutout, but the Giants made a few changes.

Here are Wednesday’s lineups for both teams:
