In order to add depth to their injured and depleted secondary, the Jets signed cornerback Marquice Cole from their practice squad on Wednesday, the New York Daily News reports.

Cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (ankle) are questionable for the Jets' Week 3 game against Tennessee on Sunday, leading the team to sign Cole to the roster. Sheppard and Strickland have not been completely ruled out against the Titans, but Cole adds the needed insurance in case either of the two are unable to play.

An undrafted free agent out of Northwestern, Cole has spent time with the Raiders, Titans and Saints organizations. He has yet to play in an NFL game.

The Jets waived tight end Matthew Mulligan, a former Titan, to make room for Cole on the roster.
