New England is reportedly making a last-ditch roster move before Saturday's 6 p.m. deadline. According to The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss, linebacker Paris Lenon has been informed that he will be released.

Lenon was a possible candidate to replace retired veteran Tedy Bruschi. With Lenon facing the chopping block, it is likely that Eric Alexander will be a lock to make the roster as a reserve and a special teams player.

The 31-year-old linebacker has spent seven years in the league, journeying from Green Bay to Detroit. He has played in 16 games each year of his career, registering 310 tackles, five sacks, five forced fumbles, five recovered fumbles and one touchdown.

According to Boston.com, New England also cut receiver/safety Ray Ventrone and plans to put offensive lineman George Bussey on season-ending injured reserve. Bussey was selected by the Patriots in the fifth round of this year's draft and played in Thursday's game against New York. He will undergo surgery after experiencing swelling in his knee.
