There have been more frowns than smiles so far this season for hockey fans in the Hub. After a few rough losses and an injury to the team's spark plug — Milan Lucic — in just two short weeks of action, the B's have not been the happiest bunch on ice.

On Tuesday however, an uplifting sight appeared at Ristuccia arena: Dennis Wideman was participating in a full practice alongside Zdeno Chara.

Wideman has sat out the team's last two games with a shoulder injury suffered more than a week ago against the Islanders at the Garden. The 26-year-old sounds optimistic about a return to the blue line on Wednesday night but couldn't offer a definite answer.

“It feels good, but we’ll see. I’ll take another step and we’ll see how the next couple of days go,” Wideman told WEEI.com on Tuesday. “It felt pretty good today. It was a little different. That was probably the first time I missed a road trip with an injury and couldn’t go. So it’s a different thing. For as long as you play, something like that is going to happen eventually."
