The Celtics announced on Wednesday that guard Marquis Daniels underwent successful surgery at New England Baptist Hospital to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. The procedure was performed by Celtics team physician, Dr. Brian McKeon, and Dr. Drew Terrono. Daniels could be out for as many as eight weeks, according to the Boston Herald.

Daniels did not play against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night after aggravating the injury in practice on Sunday.

Daniels has averaged 5.7 points and 20.4 minutes in 19 games for the Celtics this season. He signed with the Celtics as a free agent on Sep. 1.
