Report: Yankees Trade Reliever Brian Bruney to Nationals The Yankees got the winter meetings started on Monday by ridding themselves of one of their most inconsistent relievers. The Yankees traded right-hander Brian Bruney to the Nationals for a player to be named later, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Bruney went 5-0 with a 3.92 ERA in 44 games for the Yankees last season. In 39 innings, he struck out 36 and walked 23.

After being released by the Diamondbacks on May 20, 2006, Bruney signed with the Yankees as a free agent on July 1, 2006. In four seasons with the Yankees, he went 12-3 with a 3.25 ERA in 153 appearances.
