While the rest of the country anxiously awaits Tiger Woods' public statement on Friday morning, the Golf Writers Association of America won't be doing the same.

According to Golf.com, the GWAA voted on Thursday to boycott the PGA star's first public statement in three months. The statement will only be open to select members of the media — The Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg News Service — and the GWAA feels that its presence without the opportunity to ask questions gives credence to an event that doesn't deserve it.

"I cannot stress how strongly our board felt that this should be open to all media and also for the opportunity to question Woods," Vartan Kupelian, president of the GWAA, told Golf.com. "The position, simply put, is all or none. This is a major story of international scope. To limit the ability of journalists to attend, listen, see and question Woods goes against the grain of everything we believe."

Nineteen members of the GWAA voted to protest Woods' statement, four voted against the boycott and three potential voters were absent.
