Protesters threatened the Olympic flame’s path to Vancouver.

According to CBS Sports.com, the Olympic torch relay changed course on its way to this year’s Winter Olympics to avoid protesters on Friday.

More than 100 protesters gathered in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside area among hundreds of Olympic fans waiting to see the historic flame. Police subdued the protesters while the flame’s entourage changed course.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger carried the torch earlier in the day but was not called upon to terminate the protest.
