Rookie Marcus Landry has been assigned to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League. The transaction, reported by ESPN.com, clears the way for veteran Michael Finley to join the team.

While Landry could have remained in Boston and not dressed for games, the move was made to get him time on the court to help him develop as a player. Landry was part of the Nate Robinson trade with the New York Knicks and has played just three minutes in his only appearance with the Celtics in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 6-foot-7 forward is averaging 2.4 points per game along with 1.1 rebounds over 18 games, averaging 6.2 minutes per game.
