Pete Carroll Using Twitter to Keep Fans Guessing About Seahawks' Draft Plans Former Patriots coach Pete Carroll made his first draft with the Seahawks memorable, all using 140 characters or less.

According to, Seattle's new coach kept fans guessing by using tweets referencing songs suggesting how the team would use each of its first-round draft picks.

"We're gonna tweet songs thru out the day to give u hints about our draft picks… try 2 figure it out!" Carroll said via Twitter.

The former USC coach's song selections included Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird," Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and Tupac's "California Love."

The Seahawks held two first-round picks, No. 6 and No. 14, and the team selected Oklahoma State offensive tackle Russell Okung with the sixth pick and Texas safety Earl Thomas with the 14th selection.

Carroll used a popular Ice Cube hit to show his satisfaction with his team’s selections.

"Today was a good day!!!" Carroll wrote after the team picked Thomas.
