Bruins Sign Winger Mark Recchi to One-Year Extension

Old reliable is back for at least one more year.

Bruins winger and future Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Recchi signed a one-year contract extension on Monday.

The 42-year-old veteran with 1,571 career regular season games has tallied 563 goals, 922 assists (1,485 points) and 998 penalty minutes over 22 seasons. Last season with the B's, he notched 18 goals and 25 helpers for 43 points. 

Since joining the Black and Gold at the trade deadline in 2009, Recchi has played 99 regular season games, scoring 28 goals and assisting on 31 more. In 24 playoff games with the Bruins, Recchi has nine goals and seven helpers.

Boston is the seventh different team Recchi has played for, having suited up for the Penguins, Flyers, Canadiens, Hurricanes, Thrashers and Lightning. Among active players, he ranks second in games played (Chris Chelios, 1,651), second in goals (Teemu Selanne, 606), first in assists and first in points.
