The Red Sox have placed Daisuke Matsuzaka on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain.

Scott Atchison will replace the righty as Saturday's starter against the Phillies at a rainy Fenway Park. The Sox have recalled lefty reliever Dustin Richardson from Pawtucket for bullpen support.

Matsuzaka is 5-2 with a 4.59 ERA in eight starts. He began the season in the minors, rehabbing a back and neck injury suffered early in spring training. In his last outing, Dice-K allowed just four hits over eight shutout innings in Boston's 4-1 win over the Indians in Cleveland on Monday.
