Of Red Sox’ Interleague Opponents, Who Is Best Ace?

An author of a perfect game, another of a no-hitter and the two-time reigning Cy Young winner. It’s not the 2010 Hall of Fame class — it’s the trio of aces for three of the Red Sox’ interleague opponents.

The first is Roy Halladay, who didn’t fare so well against the Red Sox a couple of weeks ago but could be the best pitcher of the past decade.

The second is Ubaldo Jimenez, who owns a ridiculous 11-1 record, 0.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a no-hitter this season. Oh, and that game he lost? He went seven innings, giving up one run on two hits. What a bum.

Finally is Tim Lincecum. By 2010 standards, he’s not on par with Halladay or Jimenez, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a lineup that would look forward to facing him. This year, he’s 5-2 with a 3.20 ERA for the Giants, which is nothing to scoff at, but he’s a bit off his pace from the past two years, when he went a combined 33-12 with a 2.55 ERA.

The Sox will likely see Jimenez in their series this month in Colorado, and pending the weather, they may miss out on facing Lincecum in the following series.

Regardless, Jim from Peabody, Mass., wants to know who is the best. If you think it’s Roy Halladay, text “SOX1” to 542542. If you think it’s Tim Lincecum, text “SOX2” to 542542. If you think it’s Ubaldo Jimenez, text “SOX3” to 542542.
