John Lackey’s No-Hit Bid Broken Up With Two Outs in Eighth Inning

John Lackey's no-hit bid was broken up with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning in Seattle on Thursday night.

The Red Sox carried a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning, with Justin Smoak, Casey Kotchman and Josh Bard due up in the eighth. After two quick outs, former Red Sox catcher Bard lined a single into short right-center field.

The Mariners scored their run following a Milton Bradley walk in the second inning. Bradley stole second, advanced to third on a fielder's choice and then scored on a passed ball.
