The boo birds will have to wait.

Johnny Damon was scratched from the Tigers' lineup just 40 minutes before first pitch Friday night due to back spasms. He was replaced in the lineup by Brennan Boesch. When Boesch steps to the plate, he'll likely only hear "Who?" from the Fenway faithful rather than hearing "Boo."

Damon, 36, appeared in all but two of the Tigers' games in July, hitting .325  with four homers and 12 RBIs. He's played in 93 games, putting him on pace to finish the season with roughly 154 games played.

J.D. Drew was scratched from the Red Sox' lineup earlier on Friday.
