Hold your horses, New York. Cliff Lee may not be coming after all.

The Mariners and Yankees, deep in discussions about trading the 2008 Cy Young Award winner to the Bronx, could not come to an agreement on the second player included in the potential deal, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.

The report said that while the Yankees were willing to part with catching prospect Jesus Montero, the Mariners were apparently not interested in infielder David Adams.

Adams, 23, is batting .309 in Double-A Trenton, where he has three home runs and 32 RBIs in 39 games. Montero, 20, is batting .253 for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he has six homers and 35 RBIs in 77 games. He has allowed 13 passed balls and has thrown out 22 percent of would-be base stealers.

Don't get too excited yet, Red Sox and Rays fans. With the Yankees in Seattle for a weekend series, chances are the two sides will have plenty of time to iron something out.
