Red Sox Lineup Boasts Favorable Numbers Against Ricky Romero

The Red Sox' lineup for their series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night features a handful of players in a favorable matchup.

The five starters who have faced Jays lefty Ricky Romero (David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis, Adrian Beltre, J.D. Drew and Bill Hall) are a combined 18-for-36 (.500) with three home runs, four doubles and seven walks against him.

Ortiz is 6-for-12 with a dinger, three doubles and five RBIs vs. Romero, who is 1-3 with a 7.66 ERA in five career starts against the Sox.

Darnell McDonald, one of the four Boston starters who has never seen Romero, will bat second for the second straight game and the fifth time this year.

Kevin Cash makes his fourth consecutive start behind the dish.
