One former Red Sox outfielder — Johnny Damon — was placed on waivers, but decided to stay home. Another former Sox outfielder — Manny Ramirez — may have to make the same decision soon.

According to ESPN.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Ramirez on waivers and likely will look into working out a trade for the outfielder.

Reports surfaced Monday that the Chicago White Sox intended to make a claim for Ramirez. If they do, they will have 48 hours to work out a deal with the Dodgers, or the Dodgers can just let White Sox claim Ramirez and his contract.

Like Damon, who declined a chance to return to the Red Sox after they claimed him on waivers, Ramirez has no-trade clause in his deal. In fact, he has a full no-trade clause, meaning he would have to approve any deal the Dodgers make.
