Who Is the Biggest Yankees Villain in Red Sox History? It goes without saying that there have been a lot of Yankees for Red Sox fans to hate.

A few names stand out above the rest though.

The 2004 ALCS was pretty much the perfect event for Red Sox nation. A part of that, however, was based on what had happened just one year earlier in the 2003 ALCS. Two words: Aaron Boone. With his 11th-inning bomb in Game 7, Boone broke Sox fans' hearts, cementing his place among the greatest Yankee villains of all time.

The always-surly Joba Chamberlain hasn't exactly endeared himself to Sox fans over the years either. The Yankees hurler has won 80 percent of his decisions against Boston, and he's thrown at Kevin Youkilis on multiple occasions. On the other hand, his struggles this year have somewhat diminished his villain status.

Then, there's Bucky "Bleeping" Dent. How could a shortstop who averaged just over three home runs per year hit the game-changer in the 1978 tiebreaker game against the Yankees at Fenway? He couldn't have.

Or what about the centerpiece of the 1970s Sox-Yankees feuds, Thurmon Munson? His feud with Carlton Fisk, climaxing with his instigating a bench-clearing brawl by colliding with the Sox legend in a 1973 game in Boston, was nothing short of good versus evil for Sox fans.

Some Yankees are just inherently hateable. Alex Rodriguez is, well, Alex Rodriguez, and George Steinbrenner was George Steinbrenner. Their villain resumes are as long and distinguished as humanly imaginable.

And then, there's Babe Ruth.
