Texas Advances to the World Series, Grants Boston Fans Their One Postseason Wish (Photos) The Rangers gained thousands of fans Friday night when they defeated the Yankees 5-1. Many of those new fans can be found in Boston.

Texas dominated the six-game series with pitching, speed and Josh Hamilton.

Josh Hamilton followed his MVP-caliber regular season with a monstrous ALCS. He hit .350, smashed four home runs and was named the ALCS MVP. The Yankees didn’t even give Hamilton a chance Friday night, walking him intentionally three times. The one time they did pitch to him he drove in another run.

Texas advances to their first World Series in franchise history after defeating the 2009 World Series champions.

The former champs face plenty of unanswered questions this offseason. Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte are free agents, as well as manager Joe Girardi.

Now, Texas waits to play the winner of the San Francisco and Philadelphia NLCS to begin the World Series.
