Liverpool may receive a boost in offensive firepower this Saturday as Fabio Aurelio is finally poised to return to his post at left back in Premier League competition.

Aurelio re-signed at Anfield this summer and was awarded the squad no. 6, but he was hampered by groin and achilles problems shortly thereafter, and he has not appeared for the first team since Aug. 26 in Europa League action against Trabzonspor.

Now though, he has been able to play 75 minutes with the reserve team against Blackpool and is looking to make his full return on Saturday, according to LFC TV.

"I feel good after the 75 minutes for the reserves and I'm ready for Saturday if the manager needs me," he said.

"I have been training well and I was in the squad for the Stoke game but didn't make the bench. Hopefully I can play on Saturday. It has been frustrating not to play but I have been working hard and kept my confidence up. … The more you play, the more confidence you have. I'm feeling good and just want to play again."

The return of Aurelio — as well as the return of Glen Johnson — could particularly be a boost to the Reds' inconsistent offense.

While Paul Konchesky has served admirably at left back and often offered fair delivery going forward, the quickness, skill and delivery of Aurelio up the left side could serve to boost the squad's width and pace up the wing.
