Fernando Torres likely won't have to pack his bags anytime soon, as the young Spaniard known as "El Nino" scored both goals in Liverpool's Sunday win against Chelsea, his first double since March.

Manager Roy Hodgson used Torres' execution in the match as an example of why the team has no intention of getting rid of the striker.

"I don't have any fears for the future, as far as he's concerned, as long as we can get back close to the top of the table, where Liverpool belong," Hodgson said, according to the Daily Mail. "He will get the plaudits [after this game], and rightly so, because on that evidence, he is right up at his best again. It showed why he is a vital player for Liverpool. He would be for any club.

"Hopefully, Fernando will look back and say that even though, like the team, he didn't start brightly, he ended up having a great season," he added.

Torres was off to a slow start to the season, only having two goals and two assists before Sunday's game. In 22 games last season, he had 18 goals and three assists.

New Liverpool owner John Henry was also asked about Torres' future with the club before Sunday's match.

"Frankly, we don't want players at the club who don't want to be at the club," Henry told the Daily Mail. "Having said that, I have spoken with a number of our top players and was really heartened about the response and, indeed, the intelligence of those players."
