If it's going to be Tedy Bruschi's night, the former Patriots linebacker wants to get his way, and he's looking at you, Mother Nature.

Bruschi wants snow Monday, and lots of it. Bruschi, who will be honored at halftime of the Patriots-Jets game at Gillette Stadium, said there's just something special about winter weather elements during a New England football game.

"I just knew we were going to win when it snowed at Gillette," Bruschi said Wednesday. "A little bit of snow would be nice."

Obviously, a mixture of the Patriots and some snow is enough to trigger nostalgic memories of the team's drive toward three Super Bowls at the beginning of the last decade, but Bruschi was hoping to add something else to the historical feel of Gillette.

Someday, Bruschi hopes to see a ring of honor — a banner that stretches through the inside of the stadium listing the names of the greatest players in franchise history — that is displayed in other venues, maybe most famously in Dallas.

For now, Bruschi will join the likes of former wide receiver Troy Brown and linebacker Ted Johnson as players from the Super Bowl era who have been recognized at halftime of a home game. That will be just fine for Bruschi, who has welcomed the individual recognition, even if that’s not what he set out to accomplish in his career.

"I wanted to win championships," Bruschi said, "and whatever came with that, so be it."
