The coaching shuffle continues throughout the NFL.

According to ESPN.com, former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels was named offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday. McDaniels replaces the previous coordinator, Pat Shurmur, who was hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.

McDaniels, a former offensive coordinator for the Patriots, was named head coach of the Denver Broncos in early 2009, but his tenure was cut short when he was fired on Dec. 6, after dropping 17 of his final 22 games.

Despite his struggles as head coach in Denver, McDaniels' success as an offensive coordinator is still widely respected in the NFL. He helped Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton set career highs in pass completions, passing yards, touchdown passes and passer rating in his first year as head coach, and the Rams are looking forward to the influence McDaniels will have on their young quarterback Sam Bradford.

"We are happy to announce that Josh will be a part of our staff," Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said in a statement. "I've always recognized that he is one of the top offensive minds in the NFL. We think he is a great addition to our organization."
