Kevin Kolb Wants Out of Philadelphia If Michael Vick Retains Starting Job

Kevin Kolb was supposed to be the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback of the present and the future. Then, that whole Michael Vick thing happened.

Now, after handling the backup role with class throughout the season, Kolb has made his feelings felt — he wants to start.

According to Philly.com, Kolb wants out if Vick comes back as the starter.

He made that pretty clear in his postgame interviews too.

"I love it here, as everybody knows," Kolb said. "My family’s settled in here. I would love to be starting here. But I want to be starting somewhere."

When asked if he would return as a backup, he responded, "I can't answer that question."

Vick's physical frailty and slight dip in form at the end of the season may give the Eagles reason to retain a strong backup like Kolb as an insurance policy, or even letting Vick go elsewhere.

The Eagles also have little incentive to trade Kolb, who signe a two-year deal last April that will pay him just $1.4 million in 2011.

If Kolb does go, however, he will have no shortage of suitors, with the likes of San Francisco, Tennessee, Arizona, Washington, Miami and others looking for long-term answers at quarterback.
