The half begins with an Everton corner. It is taken well to the far post and headed by Distin at the far post. He heads it down past Reina and Johnson, and Everton has tied it. Goal — Distin.

Half Analysis: Liverpool is slightly lucky to have the lead at half time, though the run of play shifted slightly in their favor as the 45 minute period wore on.

Raul Meireles and Martin Kelly are having spectacular games up the right side, and Glen Johnson looks creative on the left.

Everton is giving Liverpool space in whch to operate, and they are responding.

In the other direction, however, the same can be said, as Everton is using the width of the field well, winning many corners, and looks able to counter.

Jay Spearing has looked relatvely decent in his return to the side, though Maxi Rodgriguez has been characteristically non-existence, and Lucas hasn't been much better.

Liverpool should win this match, but they aren't out of the woods.

Neville commits a foul in midfield in retaliation — and there is a call.

12', 0-0: Torres concedes a free kick, but the result is just the ball being sent long back and forth. Liverpool finally gets a throw down the left in midfield, and they switch fields.

Kelly makes a lengthy run down the right past two defenders, and his cross in is cut out for a corner.

It is taken short before being sent in ineffectively by Spearing. It is cut out, but sent back in for a Torres chance at the top of the area, but he couldn't keep it down.

9', 0-0: Kelly concedes a throw on the left, but Liverpool cuts out Baines' run. Meireles can't send a through ball for Lucas.

Everton build from the back, but Neville's ball goes to Reina — tentative start so far.

5 a.m. ET: The Merseyside Derby has had its way of falling at the most pivotal of moments for Liverpool this 201011 season. This past October, Liverpool fell to the Toffees at Goodison Park in the first match under the new FSG (then NESV) ownership. Now, Kenny Dalglish is looking for his first win as manager — in what was his last fixture at the helm at Anfield during his first tenure.

Liverpool will remain without the injured Jamie Carragher and the suspended Steven Gerrard, though much of the rest of the squad may be somewhat weary following the mid-week trip to Bloomfield Road.

Both Liverpool and Everton come into the match with 25 points from 21 games played, though Everton rests in 12th to Liverpool's 13th in the league table thanks to a slightly better goal differential (-2 to -4).

Kickoff will be at 9:05 a.m. ET. Lineups will be posted prior to the match.
