Report: Pacers Fire Head Coach Jim O’Brien

After having lost seven of eight and falling to 10th in the Eastern Conference standings, Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird fired head coach Jim O'Brien Sunday morning, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

O'Brien was in his fourth year with the Pacers, having compiled a 121-169 total record with the team and a 17-27 record this season.

While the Pacers have not been particularly talented during O'Brien's tenure, the core of Roy Hibbert, Darren Collison and Danny Granger was widely regarded as being worthy of nabbing one of the final playoff berths in the conference.

That goal, though, still remains possible, as the team is just two games out in the race for the eighth and final spot.

A decision as to who will be named interim coach has yet to be made.
