A trio of the Boston area's brightest students, Christophanie Julien of Brockton, Mattaya Fitts of Brighton and Rueben Bailey of Dorchester, headed to South Florida this past weekend to meet Venus Williams, Chad Pennington, Davone Bess and others at the Sun Life Rising Star National Summit at Sun Life Stadium.
They were joined by 19 other outstanding young minds from around the country, all of whom were nominated by various community-based organizations. The inaugural class of Rising Stars addressed some of the most critical education issues facing America today during the event at the stadium.
All of the students got a tour of the Dolphins' home, including the locker room, and received a keynote address from Williams.
