Vote: Which Red Sox Player Has Made the Most Successful Position Switch? Kevin Youkilis won't be needing that first-baseman's mitt this summer.

At least everyone in Red Sox Nation hopes he doesn't.

Youk dusted off his short glove this winter when the Red Sox signed first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who over the last four years has averaged nearly 162 games per season. Needless to say, Gonzo won't be asking for many days off this summer.

The transition from first to third shouldn't be a tough one for Youk, who was brought up at the hot corner and has started nearly 200 career games there. But based on the way he mans the first-base bag, one assumes he has played first his entire life. That 2007 Gold Glove Award in his man cave back home makes many forget that third base was where it all started for Youk.

No. 20 isn't the only Sox player to thrive in a new position with the Sox. From Carl Yastrzemski to John Valentin, Fenway has been friendly to those forced to swap spots. But which player has made the most successful switch?
