Political Pundit James Carville Gets in Verbal Showdown With Rams GM Bill Devaney at NFL Owners Meetings People in the NFL might be a little edge these days — so much so that they may not be able to handle a good, old-fashioned joke.

That is what was offered by political pundit James Carville, who took some time to talk with NFL owners, coaches and executives in New Orleans, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It was then that Carville said, "the Republican party's presidential candidates are as weak as the NFC West."

There was probably a hearty chuckle or two in the room full of wealthy businessmen, but none came from Rams general manager Bill Devaney. Though the Rams finished 7-9 in the NFC West last year, and though the division was the first to ever send a team to the playoffs with a losing record, Devaney was none too pleased.

"After Carville's NFC West comments, Rams GM Billy Devaney made it clear he didn't appreciate it," Schefter wrote on Twitter. "He confronted and cursed Carville."

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, who's gained tremendous experience in spin control over the past few weeks, was quick to diffuse any budding Carville controversy.

"Billy [Devaney] says, 'Did tell Carville to stick it where sun don't shine, but did not curse him. … He knew I didn't appreciate it, but from that point, we had a great talk. Think he's a good guy who really loves football."

And they all lived happily ever after.

Did Bill Devaney accidentally wear his sensitive pants to the owners meeting? Or should Carville stick to politics? Would you want to confront a guy who looks as scary as Carville can? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Comment of the day

Dez Bryant got booted from a shopping mall for wearing his pants too low — a story that on its surface doesn't appear to inspire much emotion one way or the other. That is, unless you're "Boston Irish."

"Wtf is wrong with this guy? Can you explain to me how someone gets banned and expelled from a mall. There are only three things you should do at a mall shop eat and talk to women. Himself and his friends must have been acting like privileged ignorant self entitled [expletives]. Think about it I can't see why anyone would want to hang out at the mall anyway. If your a man and you need some new gear you go where it is and get it and leave. If I ever have to go to the hellhole which is the mall im out in a half our tops. But it seems like him and his boys like to shop and gossip and start trouble. Sounds like a pack of schoolgirls!!! It seems like ol dez has some sugar in the tank. To each is own if he wants to float down the sidelines thats all him!!!! Haha"
