Red Sox Live Blog: Jeremy Hazelbaker Home Run Gives Sox 3-2 Win in Rain-Shortened Game Against Jays

So that’s it. The Sox have ended their 10-game losing streak, though with a little help from Mother Nature and Jeremy Hazelbaker.

Boston will finish up its Grapefruit League season against the Rays in Fort Myers on Tuesday.

Final, Boston 3-2: Kyle Fernandes comes out to pitch for the Sox in the 8th, but the umps have seen enough as rain continues to come down.

They called the game, meaning that the Sox’ losing streak has come to an end, 3-2 Final.

Mid 8th, Boston 3-2: Casey Janssen has come on to pitch for the Jays, and he begins his outing by getting Mike Cameron to fly to Loewen in right.

Tony Thomas follows Cameron up with a fly to center for the second out, but Michael Almanzar extends the inning with a single to left.

Mitch Dening, however, ends the inning with a grounder to second.

End 7th, Boston 3-2: Garrison comes back out for the seventh, getting Loewen to ground to first to begin the inning.

Brad Glen knocks a single to left, but Garrison comes back to get Woodward to fly to center.

Thereafter, Glenn makes a run for second, but is caught stealing by Vasquez — ending the inning and leaving Ryan Budde at the plate.

Mid 7th, Boston 3-2: Carlos Villanueva comes on to pitch for the Jays.

Nate Spears leads off with his second hit of the day, singling on a grounder to short.

Villanueva then gets Sutton to strike out, but Spears takes second on the play.

Jeremy Hazelbaker homers to center, giving the Sox a 3-2 lead — Hazelbaker’s first hit of the game, and of the spring. This was the 23-year-old’s sixth at-bat of 2011.

Hissey strikes out swinging for the second out of the inning — a dropped strike converted by catcher Ryan Budde.

Villanueva gets Vasquez swinging as well, ending the seventh for the Sox.

End 6th, Toronto 2-1: Seth Garrison takes the mound for the Sox, with the defense behind him changing dramatically as well.

Jonathan Diaz begins things against Garrison with a single to center, but Garrison gets John McDonald on a fly to left and J.P. Arencibia to strikeout swinging for two outs.

Diaz steals second, putting himself in scoring position with two outs and Mike McCoy at the plate.

Garrison gets out of it, striking McCoy out to end the inning.

Mid 6th, Toronto 2-1: A rain delay has paused the action.

The game finally starts up again, with Frank Gailey on for Drabek.

Mike Cameron and Dustin Pedroia fly out for the first two outs of the sixth.

Adrian Gonzalez gets a two-out base hit to right, his first of the day, and he’s immediately pinch-run for by Michael Almanzar.

Lowrie, however, ends the inning with a strikeout — swinging.

End 5th, Toronto 2-1: Portice gets Encarnacion to fly to center to begin the Jays half of the fifth. Molina thereafter flies to left, bringing up Kenny Wilson. Wilson strikes out swinging to end the inning.

Mid 5th, Toronto 2-1: After a number of defensive substitutions, Drabek continues his strong start, inducing groundouts from Hazeblaker, Hissey and Vasquez for a 1-2-3 inning.

End 4th, Toronto 2-1: Eammon Portice comes on to pitch for the Sox.

He gets Jose Bautista to fly to left, lowering his average to below .400 for the spring.

He then gets Adam Lind to strike out swinging — good start for Portice.

Aaron Hill, however, ends Portice’s run, doubling to left — Mike McCoy on to run for Hill.

Juan Rivera bloops one to right in front of Hazelbaker, scoring McCoy from second, 2-1 Jays.

Snider grounds to Lowrie to end the inning.

Mid 4th, 1-1: Drabek works his way through the Sox lineup quickly in the fourth.

He first gets a grounder to second from Lowrie, followed by a Spears strikeout (looking) for the second out.

Sutton ends the inning with a groundout.

End 3rd, 1-1: Pena Jr. begins his part of the third by inducing a Jose Molina fly to center, bringing Rajai Davis up.

Davis, who is hitting .362 this spring, also flies to Hissey out in center field.

An Escobar groundout ends the inning, another 1-2-3 frame for Pena Jr.

Mid 3rd, 1-1: Peter Hissey leads things off in the third for Boston, the 21-year-old’s second at-bat of the spring. He knocks a single to left, making him now 1-for-2 this spring.

Christian Vasquez, the No. 9 hitter, comes up for the Sox thereafter — the first at-bat of the spring for the catcher. He finds success as well, doubling to right — though Hissey makes it only to third.

Now back at the top of the order, Cameron singles on a grounder to short, bringing Hissey home.

Pedroia, however, grounds into a 6-4-3 double play, which Gonzalez follows with a grounder to second to end the rally, but the Red Sox do tie it up 1-1.

End 2nd, Toronto 1-0: Lind leads off the second for the Jays with a single to left — the first off Pena Jr.

Hill doubles to center — scoring Lind all the way from first to give the Jays an early lead — still nobody out.

Pena Jr. begins the containment process, getting Rivera to ground to first — keeping Hill at second on the first out.

He then gets Snider to ground back to him — two outs, Hill still on second.

Encarnacion flies to left to end the inning, but the Jays strike first through Hill’s double.

Mid 2nd, 0-0: Spears starts things off with a single to right off Drabek, but he’s picked off thereafter by Jose Molina with Sutton at the plate.

Sutton becomes Drabek’s third strikeout victim, also on three pitches, for the second out of the inning.

Jeremy Hazelbaker comes up for the Sox — his fourth at-bat of the spring. He continues the trend, striking out on three pitches to end the inning — at least it was looking this time around.

End 1st, 0-0: Tony Pena Jr. gets off on the right foot for Boston, inducing a Rajai Davis groundout to begin his day.

He follows that up with a groundout from Escobar and a strikeout of Bautista — 1-2-3 inning for Pena in the first.

Mid 1st, 0-0: Mike Cameron leads the game off for the Sox with a three-pitch strikeout, lowering his spring average below .300.

Pedroia, however, quickly turns things around for the Sox in Dunedin. He doubles to right on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Things get back on track for Drabek thereafter, He strikes Gonzalez out on three pitches, bringing Jed Lowrie to the plate as the Sox’ last chance of the inning.

The shortstop flies to center to end the frame.

9:15 a.m.: John Lackey was supposed to get his final spring start on Monday, but downpours in Florida have changed those plans. The Sox will keep him in Fort Myers to pitch to minor leaguers and instead send Tony Pena Jr. to Dunedin to face the Blue Jays, according to multiple reports.

Here’s the lineup that Terry Francona will trot out against the Blue Jays, as the Sox look to put an end to an unforeseen 10-game skid. You’ll notice that big, bad Jed Lowrie is holding down the cleanup spot.

1. Mike Cameron, DH
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Jed Lowrie, SS
5. Nate Spears, LF
6. Drew Sutton, 3B
7. Jeremy Hazelbaker, RF
8. Pete Hissey, CF
9. Christian Vazquez, C
