It’s been about a year since a lesser-known cyclist has come out of the woodwork to accuse Lance Armstrong of cheating, which must have set off Tyler Hamilton‘s alarm clock.

Hamilton, a former teammate of Armstrong, told 60 Minutes that Armstrong used a blood-boosting drug called erythropoietin (EPO) to help him during the 1999 Tour de France and prior to the race in 2000 and 2001, according to The Associated Press.

Last May, Floyd Landis accused Armstrong of taking the same drugs. Not coincidentally, both Landis and Hamilton are both admitted users of the drug.

Armstrong took to Twitter to quickly defend his reputation.

“20+ year career. 500 drug controls worldwide, in and out of competition. Never a failed test. I rest my case,” he wrote.

Mark Fabiani, Armstrong’s legal counsel, was a bit more harsh in his criticism of Hamilton.

“Tyler Hamilton is a confessed liar in search of a book deal — and he managed to dupe 60 Minutes, the CBS Evening News and new anchor Scott Pelley. Most people, though, will see this for exactly what it is: More washed-up cyclists talking trash for cash.”
